Sharing a message using film can be as simple as capturing yourself talking

Sharing a message using film can be as simple as capturing yourself talking on camera and sending that video footage to a friend.

Sassy Productions want to encourage you to use film to share messages, so we thought we'd give you some examples of how this can be done.

This week we have been involved with two very different organisations helping them to promote what they are doing, by making short films about them and we've done this in two different styles:

FiverFest Ryde

FiverFest is a national initiative to help showcase independent shops and businesses, celebrate their worth and the value they bring to our towns. This year, Ryde Business Association decided to sign up and is, in fact the town furthest South, that is taking part. FiverFest is a timely reminder that we must use our independent shops or there is a chance we will lose them.

DID YOU KNOW... that if every adult in Ryde spent just £5 per week at an independent shop it would generate over £2.7 million for the local economy - and the great news is money spent locally, stays locally.

Sassy Productions decided to support Ryde business Association by making a vlog about the campaign. We decided that the simplest way to do this would be to simply visit the shops in Ryde and ask the owners to speak to us on camera. Below you can see one film that we made the day before and a second on the first day of FiverFest.

We visited some of the shops listed below, to see what offers were in store.

Here are just some of the local businesses who put on special FIVER FEST RYDE offers for the week 8th-15th June 2019:

Out On An Island

Out On An Island is an 18 month Heritage Lottery funded project 100 years of LGBTQ+ Oral Histories with an Isle of Wight connection with @StoneCrabsTheatre. They need volunteers with an interest in Island LGBTQ+ heritage to join them, meet new people and receive free training in interview techniques.

We went along to the launch event at Quay Arts and interviewed some of the key people involved in the project. See the film here to find out more:
